Doctor Turvy's Quixotic Apothecary: The Wondrich of it All

“Doctor Turvy was an ethereal citizen of an ethereal world.  In the beginning, he existed only for Blix, but long before the end, he existed for everybody who worked with Blix or knew him well.  Although Doctor Turvy’s prescriptions indicated that he put his trust in a wine list rather than a pharmacopoeia, he had two qualities of special excellence in a physician; his diagnosis was always arrived at in a split second – and he held the complete confidence of his patient.”
Beryl Markham

Rx: The first of many Downton Abbey-less Sundays to come, Turvy suggested that I pop on over to the Charleston darling McCrady's to drown a sorrow or two.

The Panacea?  The Wondrich Classic's delicate mingling of Smith & Cross Rum, Sercial Madiera, Rémy Martin VSOP, raw sugar, and sour oranges.
a
Truly a Lady's Libation, it's diminutive perfection colored me giddy & fancying myself ever so dainty each time I raised the glass.  The sour oranges sent me feverishly sourcing vendors & growers.  And the ménage à Rum, Madiera, & Cognac put the blush of a first kiss on my cheeks.

Discuss:  Downton Abbey, quite poignantly, illustrates how drastically four years can change the world that we live in.  How was your world different four years ago than it is today?  What is your answer to the classic "one more day" question?  What will you do with tomorrow's leap day?  What are your hopes and dreams for the next four years?

To taking a leap & nabbing a seat.
Let's imbibe, punch, stomp & swerve!

Abbey Road

a
Sunday's Downton Abbey Finale seems to have put to bed (pun intended) the dramatic tension surrounding Lady Mary Crawley's "to die for" night of unbridled passion in the arms of the knee weakening Mister Pamuk.
a
I've never been quite so "Awww..." stricken as I was when Mary's Daddy advises that she go to New York (now you're speaking my post-bastage-chucking language!) or that she "find a Cowboy in the Middle West & bring him back to shake us up a bit."  I'll have the Earl of Grantham melt please.

"Something in the way she moves, attracts me like no other lover"
a
So how does one get that look?  That come-hither, look at what a filthy cad I am, I'll be throwing you against the wall later, glance.  Well . . . well apparently with the Revolutionary Costume below!
a
"Here comes the sun.  Here comes the sun ... Little Darlin"

"The indistinctness of the sexes," amorist scholars agree, "is seductive."  Sirens deliberately traded on the appeal of the androgyne.  Venetian courtesans wore pants under their overskirts and adopted a "masculine mode" of behavior and lifestyle.

So there.  By golly Lady Sybil. We've settled it.  Jodhpurs, Ascots . . . add to basket!
a
You know what else makes my pulse quicken and my heart go pitter-patter with each and every onscreen appearance?    Perhaps the title of our Downton Abbey inspired board will betray my new (5,000 volume) crush.

a
That's right!  A Toast to the ridiculously gorgeous Library at Highclere Castle.  I am completely bewitched with you.   And with the courage and optimism of Lord Grantham . . .

"Remember, this is not just the end
of a long war.  But it is the dawn
of a new age.  God bless you all."
