I Have Seen The Elephant

Doctor Turvy was an ethereal citizen of an ethereal world.  In the beginning, he existed only for Blix, but long before the end, he existed for everybody who worked with Blix or knew him well.  Although Doctor Turvy’s prescriptions indicated that he put his trust in a wine list rather than a pharmacopoeia, he had two qualities of special excellence in a physician; his diagnosis was always arrived at in a split second – and he held the complete confidence of his patient.”
Beryl Markham

After being diagnosed with a case of the “Same Olds,” I was referred to the exquisitely adorable Accent On Wine & More in Summerville, South Carolina.  The Blaufränkisch, listed as a preference for the “More Adventurous,” was my first.
I won’t begin to pretend that I can tell you anything about why I found it to be so lovely.  In matters of taste, from Wine to Art, I quite simply like what I like.  Those of you whose interest in  this “Complex Austrian” has been piqued should consult Eric Asimov.  Those of you who are more adventurous should skip a second opinion and open a bottle.

Amuse-Bouche!

Discuss:
In the film, “Outsider” Steve Lazarides comments: “I think ... I think the joke is on - I don’t know who the joke’s on really.  I - I don’t even know if there is a joke.” ... Is there?  And, if so,  whom is the joke on?
Banksy makes some (I found to be) rather melancholy comments in response to Thiery’s success.  Is Thiery a genius? Did he get lucky?  Or is there something more disheartening than genius v. luck to credit?  Are there rules?  If so what are the rules?
And, seriously, was anyone else wondering how in the whole wide world Debora put up with all of that?  Was she just completely being taken advantage of?  Or was their’s a testimony to can’t-live-without-each-other, “in (mental AND physical) sickness & in health,” unconditional Love?
