When I read that the name of the 1972 album, "Eat A Peach", was inspired by a sentiment expressed by Duane Allman (some suspect was a reference to T.S. Eliot’s "The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock") in which he said “There ain't no revolution, it's evolution, but every time I'm in Georgia I eat a peach for peace; the two-legged Georgia variety” . . . I swooned.
Now that, my darling, is a true southern gentleman.

And when I read that he was so inspired by a Taj Mahal album (brought to him by his brother to cheer him up when he was sick) that he turned his Coriciden bottle into a slide, I began to think of the man whose passing Macon mourned five years before I was even born – as a kindred spirit.

This little peach loves poetry, Taj Mahal and southern boys with a swagger.

So, when invited to Food 101’s Allman Brothers inspired Peach Dinner, I got a little shiver just thinking about it. I’m telling you (tisk, tisk) – you should have come with. Chef Ron Eyster did things with those peaches that would have made you blush and his business partner, Chris, brought the swagger – in a perfectly fitted vintage tee and leather vest. I’m not a vest girl, per say, but this adorable fellow rocked it.

Back to the vittles: all six courses were divine! My favorites were the Buttermilk Fried Quail Breast with Riverview Farm Grits & the Jumbo BBQ Shrimp with Creamed Corn. Were it not for the watchful eyes of Suchita & Asha – I might just have run my finger across the plate for that last bit of creamed corn. And, had the Quail been attached to a bone, one might have found me in the ladies room gnawing on it. But alas . . . I was chaperoned!

The rest of the week was set to the tune of a different era. It was a track from a time when I had leg warmers and I used to beg my mom (unsuccessfully) to dye my hair purple. A time when Red Lobster was considered fine dining, when “Kung Fu Fighting” was done at the disco rather than in an animated film . . . a time when we all just wanted someone to “pour some sugar on” us. That’s right, we hopped in the Delorean and headed back to the Eighties.
a
First stop: “THE” Red Lobster, as Jessica (Walden) refers to it. I’m not even going to try to explain. If you want to know why we were there (other than to eat cheese biscuits, drink “dirty” Shirley Temples and play with lobsters in the lobby) then you’ll just have to read the adorable TOAST that “sissy” wrote . . . it’s posted, so take a peek.
a
All aboard! On Friday, the girls (Jessica, Stephanie (Shadden) and April (Hornsby) picked “Miss Daisy” up for a little sushi & karaoke at Shoki. The private karaoke rooms are a scream and you just have to try the Banana Pudding Martini.
a
Afterwards we went to see Two Finger Jester - who played at Meagan (Evans) and Jessica’s 30th Birthday Eighties Prom. We rocked it out to hits such as Marshall Tucker Band’s “Can’t You See.” (Paul Hornsby – April’s daddy – produced and played keys on the tune.) A TOAST to Paul.

I ended the week at the most precious boy in the world's house (oh no, I can't, that's my secret) - playing wii golf - and I am ADDICTED . . . Tiger-Tiger, Tiger Woods Y'all !
