One thing is for sure . . . alcohol and facebook mix about as well as paisley and plaid. However, keeping in mind that layering patterns is going to be HUGE this fall . . . Holly (Doss) and I, from opposite sides of the Big River, poured ourselves a glass and logged on.

The Buckhead Plantation Red Barn Bash facebook event invite was a snap to create! Click, sip, click, sip, click, sip - and it was done. Easy as pie!

Explaining to Holly's Daddy that we had "accidentally" included over three hundred people on the guest list . . . was a tactical maneuver that required a tinch more finesse to pull off.

Luckily, the last-minute-ness of the idea for our Grande Soiree led to a (relatively) small turnout and the First Annual, Perhaps Quarterly, Every-Once-In-A-While Monthly Buckhead Plantation Red Barn Bash left Holly and I both pleased with ourselves and out of hot water with her "rents" (Henry & Gail).

By Saturday morning, Holly was giddy to report that she had already overheard her mother request that her father "please load a shotgun - Ashley's on her way out."

I was too proud! After all, I do SO love an armadillo hunt. Can't beat it BUT with a skinny dip in the pond . . . I'll tell ya that much.

However, as it turns out . . . we had so much fun up at the Red Barn that we kept our clothes on and our firearms off. What could be more fun than a Midnight "Hoover Hog" Hunt or a Moonlight Swim you ask? Well a Cocktail Cruise, that's what!

Captain G.O. Heath took 15 to 20 of us on a trailer for a "three hour" tour as we sipped, sang and watched the sun set to classic "geezer country" hits such as George Jones' Tennessee Whiskey.

The Little Green Jeep That Could took us Over The River & Through The Woods on a delightful trail ride through property that deserves a great big Ice-Cold-Budweiser Toast . . . and that is just what we gave it.

A little sad to see the Red Barn come back into view (and so proud of my nephew, Tucker, for riding in the trailer with the men like a big boy) I recalled the bubbling streams, frolicking deer and leafy cannopies that we had seen along the way.

And as the last bit of sunset disappered, allowing the black night to illuminate stars that you don't see when you stand in the yard on Vista Circle, I wished upon a few of them.

I wished that Tucker (my nephew) and Gunner (Holly's nephew), in thirty years, would have the sort of friendship that Holly and I have. I wished that a certain Southern Gentleman could be there with us under the stars. And I wished that I could fit all of it into a glass globe, add water and sit it on the table beside my bed.

The perfect end, I thought, to a week that started out on the streets of New York, ended on a dirt road . . . and made so many of my wishes come true.
