The weekend began more than a wee bit early last week. Apparently, on Wednesdays, it's after five that things start to go Tic Toc. I met the girls at MLK & Cherry for a drink - maybe two. The place was packed! Seven of us, perched on stools around an itty bitty table. The energy was just as intoxicating as the 'tinis. And if you're ears were burnin' then I'm quite sure we were talking about you . . . all good of course.
This was, after all, a week for Toasting! The 11th Hour Readers' Choice Awards brought out the Best of the Best to celebrate in style. But that's not all the event brought out. You see . . . it would appear that our Mayor has a tad bit of a wild side. His comical commentary was genuinely precious! In my opinion, if you missed it - you missed out. Tink, tink!
And THE Toast of the weekend . . . The Third Annual Big House Revival. Great music, good friends and Satterfield’s' Banana Pudding! This is the event to watch . . . it keeps getting better every year.
The Dark Horse in the weekend's festivities . . . was the Super Bowl. Don't get me wrong - I've got no beef with football. As a matter of fact, I'm quite happy amidst a crowd of draft beer infused, testosterone laden men folk. I love the commercials. And I'll eat just about anything that's dipped in hot sauce. But I've never really understood all that pacing and yelling at the television.
So imagine my surprise when I saw myself (from quite the out-of-body perspective) . . . leap off of the cozy spot on my sofa, pace back in forth in front of the fireplace, and yell at the television. Well I just don't think I've ever been so keenly in touch with my . . . dare I say it . . . masculine side. Great game!
But not to worry. The hopelessly romantical fool-for-love girly girl has not left the building. My favorite part of the Super Bowl . . .
