Mama Mia, Mama Mia!

With visions of Opry at the Grand still dancing in my head - I spent the weekend in one of my new favorite cities . . . Music City, that is. You can all call it Nashvegas if you want. And I've called it a great place to have breakfast. And it was certainly the perfect place to blow out my birthday candles. But above all else, it's just a sweet little city that I truly adore.

Brian Causey had suggested some time ago that I have the Gentleman take me to Mama Mia's. I listened, jotted it down and promptly forgot all about it. On Friday, I remembered all about it. Internet reviews might have scared me away but the G-man has encouraged me to cultivate an apppreciation for a joint that has enough character to get the occasional health code or decor criticism. I mean . . . we've had some really good cheeseburgers in a dilapidated single-wide.
Anyhoo, turn's out Mama Mia's is hard to find (behind a gas station) and you wait for your table smack dab in front of the door (pressed up against strangers). But the garlic bread was AMAZING. The Saltimboca was just delici-oso. And the Chicken Parmigiana was warm and comforting. But the Toast of our meal, made with a bottle of my favorite type of wine (the BYOB variety . . . yes that's right they let you bring it right in) was to the Gnocchi! It was DIVINE!

Amy Allen says that, even in imperfection, there is perfection to be found. Mama Mia would be proud of her.

Oh, and one more note. There's apparently quite the Toast to be had in the Men's restroom. Thank goodness my "G" took his cellphone in with him. Because he came back with an amused smile and a cellphone screen full of "Whoa Nelly - those aren't your Grandmother's nude paintings!"

Back in Macon, I helped the Georgia Boys "kick-off" MAGA last night. Here's sneak peak!
